The studio developed the visual identity for SET Film Festival, a grassroots platform for contemporary, artist, and archival film in Peckham. As the programme shifts each year and each night carries its own theme, the identity is built from typography and colour, allowing it to remain flexible while still feeling recognisable and ownable. The project began with the poster rather than the logo, treating it as the primary application. Early compositions were informed by film title stills and independent cinema posters. The layout developed through visual testing and intuition rather than fixed rules, leading to a typographic structure designed to function in both portrait and landscape orientations. The resulting form uses a stretched proportion to create a distinctive but economical visual language that feels both direct and crafted. The logo emerged by consolidating this composition into a bracketed form containing the word SET and initials, establishing a visual logic that can expand or contract across formats. For each screening, typography is reconfigured to respond to the theme of the evening, treating type as a form of concrete composition rather than fixed layout. Colour shifts across nights and across editions of the festival, while the underlying logic remains constant, allowing the identity to evolve while retaining its character. The 2024 identity was developed in collaboration with Eleni Papazoglou. |
